for working small mines.

Remulation 41. Work must be commenced within six months after the

issue of the licence for mining.

Regulation 42. The term of any licence for mining is 30 years,

subject to an extension of 20 years; and that of any licence for

working small mines is 3 years subject to renewal.

Resulation 43. The landlord of any land way open any mine that lies

in his land in accordance with Regulation 41 but if he fails to carry out any substantifal work within 6 months according to Regulation 41, the mine shall be given to another applicant.

Regulation 44. If several applications have been simultaneously

sent in for opening the same mine, the case shall be dealt with in

accordance with Regulation 33 in respect of several applications

sent in at the same time for a licence to prospect for the same

mine.

Regulation 45. After the date of starting work, on the mine reports

as regards the number of men employed, machines and the proposed

method of operation, shall be made to the Deputy for Lining Affairs

concerned to be forwarded to the Commissioner of Industry.

Regulation 46. When any mine omer gives up any mine, he must report to the Deputy for Mining Affairs and his mining licence to-

-gether with the permit to hold the land from the Government for mining operations must also be returned.

Regulation 47. When any mine owner desires to give up any part of

his mine, due report must be made to the Board of Industry, that the necessary alteration may be made on his licence.

Regulation 48. No mine owner shall mortgage or sell his mine with-

-out the approval of the Commissioner of Industry.

Chapter IX.

Regulation 49. Every applicant for permission to mine or work small mines must state the boundaries of the proposed mine and its area in lau and square Li and any mine must be in a continuous piece of land.

Regulation 50. The area of mine allowed to any licences for mining is in accordance with the amount of capital he has procured. Any
